Monday at the UK Office

On Monday morning I to find my company’s UK office. The streets were filled with quick walking suits. I made my way to the station to find it packed sardine-style, remembering that it was now a weekday during prime commuting hours. I found my way back to Oxford Circus and first looked for a bit to eat. I soon found a cafe where I had tea, yogurt and the quite possibly the best croissant ever. It was filled with thinly sliced ham, cheese, and a tomato paste with cooked onions, zucchini, and of course chunks of tomato. Anyway, exciting stuff for a Monday morning.

Trying to be discrete with my map, I eventually found the office and went up to reception to meet my contact Stuart. Work there was good, with several meetings and preparing for my client presentation the next day. For lunch, I went out with some of the Strategy group for Spanish tapas, which was very tasty. We had quite the array; everything from red wine chorizo to cheese stuffed and deep-fried asparagus.

Later that afternoon as things wound down, I was taken to my first English pub. It was good times there and later Stuart walked me back to a Tube station, but not until showing me thru the Soho district. We took a turn and then stopped where he announced, “And this is Piccadilly Circus,” and blinky lights abound, a la Times Square. Feeling not quite ready to go home, I told him I’d wander around there before heading back.

So I perused the area, did some tourist shopping and mainly enjoyed the scene before heading back to my hotel. There, I spent the rest of the evening watching music videos and working on my presentation deck.
