Credit Card Recs?

What kind of credit card(s) do you use?

Currently I have an MBNA Barnes & Noble Mastercard. One of the things that drives me nuts about it is how crappy the interface is when I access my account online. It takes me forever to find my account balance which is usually in small print buried between lines of account information (whereas my “Available Credit” is always prominently displayed at the top of every page). Plus the online statements don’t show how each transaction increments my account balance, the finance charges are in xx-small font, and the online payment system takes 5-6 business days to process. Gah.

The one redeeming factor was the fact that it was a Barnes & Noble card and I got a $10 B&N gift certificate in the mail every month. But recently, that feature has suddenly ceased and my MBNA Barnes & Noble Mastercard is now a Bank of America-MBNA Mastercard. Boo that.

As such, I’m cancelling it soon but don’t know which credit card to go for. So if anyone is particularly jazzed with the benefits of their card (and/or its corresponding web access), feel free to share conmigo. Thanks!

I like my Bank of America CC. Its got a great interface (ties in nice with the rest of my BOA accounts)

Its got a nice high limit for when I need it, but unfortunately I don’t get any nice benefits. I would definitely recommend BOA’s online features.

What’s in your wallet? I use Capital One. The interface online is easy to use, and I can always find my balance no problem. There aren’t any real benefits, except cool choice of graphics for the card. The one downside however, is that I have yet to ward off an oncoming army of barbaric viking warrors by pulling out my card. Damn commercials.

I’ve got an Amex blue and I like it a lot more than my citibank card. The web interface is nothing fancy but it’s easy to figure out and has all the information you need. Paying online is easy, but the site could be a tad more firefox friendly (it does work though). No annual fee, free rewards program, and that pimp looking card… what more could you ask for?

I actually got it so I could use it to buy gas at costco, but some places don’t take Amex so that’s something to consider.

    Goodluck!

If you have a Visa and an Amex you’re covered. You will be able to get in at 99.99% of places worldwide with either of those cards. I know you’re looking for a cute interface and stuff, but if you can get a card that works worldwide you won’t be embarrassed when you go someplace that doesn’t accept your card. This is me knowing that you hardly carry cash with you. I mean, your computer can’t pay for your meal ;P

Thanks guys! I think I have it down to two. =)

Also, I’m not so much looking for a “cute” interface as I am looking for one that isn’t as bad as my last one. And I’m not so much concerned about embarassment as I am in having a credit card that doesn’t frustrate me in the same ways the last one did.

I’ve got a Citi Platinum Dividend card. Citi has a decent web interface; it’s straight forward and easy to use. I chose the card because it gives 5% cash back on groceries, gas, and drug store purchases and then 1% back on everything else. They also have the virtual credit cards that I use all the time when buying stuff online. Citi’s customer service is also really helpful. I’ve never had to wait on hold and they’ve always been able to help me out when I’ve called. The only downside to calling them is that they try to sell you one of their “additional” services everytime you call.

Be aware that credit ratings are determined on many things one is the number of credit cards, active or inactive. The more the more negative the credit rating hit. Be careful only open accounts you intend to use and remeber when moving from on card top another make sure to cancel the card. Do not leave it open and unused.

Credit ratings may not seem important but when appling for auto and hime loans it make a big difference.
