The Latest

Well, I’ve been meaning to update but haven’t made the time to, so here goes. I’ll start with last Thursday cause that seems like a good place to start. Thursday was Naruto night at my place and David, Teresa, and Tho came over after work. We made pasta, I learned a new way to cook salmon, and then I showed everyone how to make my super special garlic Pilsbury biscuits. The name is pretty self-explanatory. The new salmon? I think I’m naming it salmon de shake ‘n bake. Oh it’s gourmet, I tell you. Anyway, so after the food was made (and David complained a lot), we ate dinner at the table, talked about our day, and then watched Naruto! (I like Gara now.) We watched a few episodes until we all got sleepy and they went home.

Afterward, Greg called and came over to say goodbye. He was leaving back to NYC the following morning. Greg is one of my first friends I met at UW; we met four years ago at our freshmen orientation. It’s weird to not have him here in Seattle anymore. Meow meow aside, it was nice saying bye even though it was kinda sad and Greg was very intoxicated at the time, haha. He did however give me a giant box of comic books worth several hundred dollars. Actually, I still am not over the fact that he gifted it to me and have convinced myself that I am actually just holding it for him. In any case, it’s quite a collection and I have much to read. He even added post-it notes to one of the books to familiarize me with characters! So yeah, it was pretty sweet going over them and what not. Then he left. :/

Fast forward to Saturday. DMB day. Ryan and Kevin made some already great blog entries about the day that pretty much covers our trek to central Washington to watch Dave, so I guess I’ll be brief.

Despite being a Washingtonian, this was my first time at the Gorge, and I must say that it’s one awesome venue. I mean you really can’t beat the scenery. 1) The drive over wasn’t nearly as bad as thought it would be. 2) The concert was good. 3) The venue was perfect. I must admit, laying in the grass, looking up at the stars and listening to Dave Matthews live, makes for a pretty sweet night. Afterward we miraculously beat the crowd leaving George and hit a McDonald’s, later making it back to Seattle around 2AM. Not a bad day trip.

Then Sunday. Sunday I thought would be a chill afternoon after the previous day’s gallivanting, but little did I know that Ryan and I would be driving North–to go outlet shopping! Woo wee! So that was a kind of random adventure and was pretty sweet. I’ve never shopped at the outlets up North and it was pretty rad. I certainly bought a lot of things. Everything from a new coat to a wooden spoon. So it was a pretty fun afternoon hanging out and shopping with Ryan.

Monday after work, my cousin Ernelyn called me and I found out that some of the family was getting together for dinner for my Tita Linda’s birthday. They were going out to Mama Melina’s and despite the fact that I was feeling kinda sick that day, I decided to make the treacherous journey there anyway, har har.

Tuesday was a pretty busy day at work with a follow-up meeting with a client in the morning, followed by a presentation to another client in the afternoon. It was good to have both over and done with though and it broke up the usual routine a bit. Was exhausted by the time I got home and realized my head cold was finally leaving me. So I went home and cooked dinner for me and Ryan. Dinner was a success despite my initial trepidation at having so many pots and pans going on at once.

Needless to say, things continue to run at a flurry. I’m trying to slow it down a bit and maybe, spend just a little more time at my place. (I stayed home for two hours before Capoeira practice today so that’s pretty noteworthy.) I just have so many chores and what not that never (ever) gets done and I feel so all over the place sometimes that I wonder if I should hit pause on my exploits and breathe. And maybe fold that load of laundry that has been sitting in the dryer for a week and open that stack of mail. 🙂

Dem hours after 5 just fly.
